Data Deletion

GetChat stores the messages and customer data that come in through your connected Instagram account, and you can delete them either inside the app or by writing to us.

Option 1 — in the app. This is the fastest route. Everything lives under Settings → Data & deletion, and there are two separate choices there.

To wipe only your customer data, pick “Erase customer data” and type your project name to confirm. That removes contacts, conversations, messages, Q&A, and contest winner data. Your account, connected channels, automations, and plan stay untouched.

To leave entirely, press “Delete profile” in the same place. We email a one-time code to your account address; once you enter it, your profile, connected channels, automations, AI settings, team members, and all customer data are deleted. Both actions happen immediately.

Option 2 — through support. If you can’t sign in, send a request through the support form or to Telegram @getchat_io. Write “Data deletion” and include your Instagram username and your account email. We complete the request within 30 days and send a confirmation.

What we receive from Instagram. When you connect a professional account, we see its profile — username, account type, and picture — along with incoming messages and comments. When you delete your profile, all of it, including the Instagram access tokens, is removed from the system.

Attribution cookies and source data. If you accepted optional cookies, your browser keeps the gc_ft and gc_lt cookies (up to 90 days), and when you sign up, how you found GetChat is stored with your account: the link tags, the landing page, the referring site's domain and the time.

Withdrawing consent. Choose “Reject” in Cookie settings — at the bottom of the website, or in the app under Settings → Data & deletion — and the cookies in that browser are removed at once and recording stops. If the account owner does this while signed in to the app, the source data stored with the account is deleted immediately too and is not recorded again. A team member's choice affects only their own browser.

Automatic and on request. Deleting your profile deletes the source data automatically. To have it deleted without signing in, write to us as in Option 2 above — we complete it within 30 days. There is no retention exception for this data; backup copies may hold it until the copy itself is deleted, and a restore applies the deletion again.

What stays. We’re required to keep payment records for accounting and tax purposes. Those records carry the payer’s name and email, so they remain even after a profile is deleted.
